Fish mint
Fish mint

Okay, this is a weird one. Houttuynia cordata is a strong growing ground cover that spreads by rhizome and loves very wet soil but will do fine in any soil context other than extremely dry. It can grow vigorously even in shade. It is edible, but I’m not gonna lie - it tastes weird. That’s why it’s called fish mint. Grows like a mint, tastes like a fish. It does have some really interesting nutritional qualities and is widely used in many other parts of the world as a food.
