Myrris odorata is a beautiful herbaceous perennial that grows up to 3’ tall when established. It can grow in deep shade and takes over space and holds it well over the years. All parts of the plant have a delicious licorice flavor and can be used for teas and in other preparations. The immature seed pods are delicious to eat as a natural candy. The plant is superficially similar to some of the most deadly plants, so do not plant it in areas where there are any of the poisonous hemlock plants that it could possibly be confused with.
